I put the 'blah' in Blog
It's raining in Tshane.
Yes, in Tshane, Botswana, it is raining today. Funny the things you find on the internet. Maybe some international, breaking news story will come out of Tshane and people will suddenly want to Google tshane.com. Wouldn't that be something, ooooooooooh.

In other uninteresting news. I'm learning how to make buttons. No, not for your underwear! For your website, silly. Trying to make a delicious button can be a challenge (unless you're talented!). Here's my try...

Random operationl display-Object
It still needs a dash of deliciousness, but it's getting there.

Overwhelming!
Wow! I am humbled. Thank you all for your emails. I have literally received hundreds of letters (yes, individual letters, like 'e', 't' and 's') from you and I am honored. I hope that I am able to keep your attention and loyalty. Please visit my blog frequently. I promise that it will help you to see how truly fortunate you are (to not be me!).

A big, "Thank You" to Mike Holliday for getting this little gem of a site into cyberspace. He's a great guy with a great company and he loves his grandma.

How can you go wrong?

OK, who's ready for lunch?

cage5.jan06_2_1_1 cage.jan06_1_1_1

...still waiting on that money. C'mon, where are those cyber-bucks?

OK, I'll go back to work and wait a bit longer for you to come through. By the way, does anyone actually read any of this?

Win $100,000,000.00 !!!
If you can listen to this without laughing, please let me know and I'll send you the check.

In more serious matters, Paso Robles has a great new Italian restaurant. It's called da Gaetano and it's fantastic. Great ambiance, friendly staff, and fantastic food. Tell Gaetano that I sent you.

Marie Claire da Gaetano Dinner @ da Gaetano

It's on the corner of Spring Street and 17th, where Kelly's used to be. My parents loved that place. Oh, and my waitress last night told me that I sat in the same seat as Mike Tyson when he visited Kelly's. Lucky me.

Incredible!

Yeah, that's what I thought of my WEC photo shoot. In the first fight, one fighter attacked the referee. Another fight featured a bloody, mangled face that nearly doused me and my camera. Oh, and there was a celebrity in the house (in addition to Chuck Liddell).

HULK

What a weekend. It wasn't all ugly, though. Cat was there to pretty things up a bit.

Meow!

That'll hafta do for now. More to come in the next few days. Gotta busy week, so I'm sure this will be a good distraction for me.

Paraskevidekatriaphobics

Paraskevidekatriaphobics — people afflicted with a morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th.

"Friday 13th is unlucky for some. The risk of hospital admission as a result of a transport accident may be increased by as much as 52 percent. Staying at home is recommended."

This is from the British Medical Journal in 1993 in an article entitled "Is Friday the 13th Bad for Your Health?".

I'm driving to the
Tachi Palace Casino today. Super! There's a big WEC fight tonight and I'm shooting it for their website.

WEC18_UnfinshedBusiness_Poster

Yeah, so about this whole superstition thing, I don't buy it. It ain't my bag. If it's yours, then you should read this article. Oh, and there's another Friday the 13th in October.

I'll be in my car if you need me.

slightly DISAPPOINTED!
OK, so the rumors preceding Macworld were predictably on the optimistic side. What's new?

No new iPods, just a $49 FM Tuner add-on. I guess since they sold 14 MILLION of the suckers last quarter, they really don't need to improve them right now. Oh, and they added some more TV content on the iTunes Music Store.

Most of Steve Jobs' keynote had to do with the new Intel chips in Apple computers. They've got the new Intel iMac for sale and they've replaced the PowerBook with the MacBook Pro, on sale in February. There's mixed reviews with this new laptop. It's an uncomfortable transition product that has a few hardware downgrades. I don't think that I'd buy one (were I shopping).

Software updates include three free updates for Quicktime, iTunes, and Mac OS X 10.4.4. Whilst writing this, I see that has also updated Safari (not Safari RSS). OK, now onto the paid upgrades. iWork saw an update...LIKE I CARE! iLife '06 debuted to the annual tune of $79. iWeb is the new kid on the block in the iLife suite. This is the one thing that I was actually hoping to use (for free). It should be a part of the .Mac service that I pay $99 for every year. Without boring you with my gripes, I'll just let it go at that. BLAH!

It's all good. I'll enjoy RapidWeaver and wean myself off of .Mac services in the next eight months.

Everything happens for a reason.

"One more thing."
The famous quote from the end of every Steve Jobs keynote speech.

Today, Tuesday, January 10, 2006 is the true opening of Macworld San Francisco! Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, will give his annual keynote speech to the throngs of Apple lovers and media. Geeks like me will scour the internet for live updates, morsels of information, and scraps of silicon goodness to covet. Rumors are flying around viruses on a Windoze peecee. Will it be new Intel powered iBooks? Powerbooks? New iPods to replace the Shuffle? New eMacs (WHY?)? Quicktime NG (Next Generation)? (Don't scoff!) Oooooh, how about moving the Mac mini over to the Intel Viiv platform and update Front Row while throwing it all into a plasma TV chassis? Oooh, ahh, Apple home entertainment systems! Oh, and .Mac will certainly see some new toys. iBlog?

Well, it's a night that reminds you of being a kid on Christmas eve. Wanna sleep, wanna be awake, wanna stay awake, can't oversleep.....AAAAARGH!

Well, in other, "new technology" news that actually happened, Adobe announced a new program for shutterbugs.....Lightroom! It's beta and it's Mac only and it's pretty cool. We'll see how it develops and how much it sells for, but it looks like a great replacement for iPhoto.

My_Lightroom

There's a screenshot from my first day with Lightroom. It's a snappy little piece of code.

Must....keep....eyes....opennnnnn.......

Time flies!

Did you miss me???

Well did you?

Well, I missed you (yes,
both of you).

OK, here's a review.

12.23.05 Off to BFE for a
WEC photo shoot. Then, up to Sacramento, CA for Christmas.

12.29.05 Back to SLO for some pre-party for New Years'.

12.31.05 Up to Atascadero, CA for New Years' party.

01.01.06 Over to brother's house for football (not NCAA!) and unhealthy eats.

01.02.06 Back to SLO for usually scheduled programming.

Since then, work, procrastinate, play, sleep, repeat.

Oh, my favorite photo of the Christmas Holiday...
