I put the 'blah' in Blog
slightly DISAPPOINTED!
OK, so the rumors preceding Macworld were predictably on the optimistic side. What's new?

No new iPods, just a $49 FM Tuner add-on. I guess since they sold 14 MILLION of the suckers last quarter, they really don't need to improve them right now. Oh, and they added some more TV content on the iTunes Music Store.

Most of Steve Jobs' keynote had to do with the new Intel chips in Apple computers. They've got the new Intel iMac for sale and they've replaced the PowerBook with the MacBook Pro, on sale in February. There's mixed reviews with this new laptop. It's an uncomfortable transition product that has a few hardware downgrades. I don't think that I'd buy one (were I shopping).

Software updates include three free updates for Quicktime, iTunes, and Mac OS X 10.4.4. Whilst writing this, I see that has also updated Safari (not Safari RSS). OK, now onto the paid upgrades. iWork saw an update...LIKE I CARE! iLife '06 debuted to the annual tune of $79. iWeb is the new kid on the block in the iLife suite. This is the one thing that I was actually hoping to use (for free). It should be a part of the .Mac service that I pay $99 for every year. Without boring you with my gripes, I'll just let it go at that. BLAH!

It's all good. I'll enjoy RapidWeaver and wean myself off of .Mac services in the next eight months.

Everything happens for a reason.
